Now you may ask, how can robots write poems?
A while back, I created the Google
Poetry Robot, which suggests words to write next by looking at popular
phrases on the Internet that use the last few words you typed. I even got one of
my robot-assisted poems published in a poetry magazine (SFU High Altitude
Poetry), and that's when I got excited.
Of course, with the power of modern text-to-speech technology, it's pretty
easy to get a computer to read a poem. But interestingly enough, each robot
"voice" seems to take on a character and personality of its own, and
it is sometimes pretty hard to shake the feeling that the robot might actually mean
something.
